In the name of God Amen the third day of November 1641 I Henry Collett of Charlton Kings in the County of Gloucester husbandman being poorly in my body but of good and perfect remembrance thanks be to God do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following

 

First I commend my soul into the hands of God my maker trusting to be saved by my Lord Jesus Christ I commit my body to the earth whence it was made and as for my worldly goods wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me I dispose of them as followeth

 

First I give towards the repair of the church of Charlton Kings a pound

 

To the poor there a pound, and to the poor of Westcott a pound

 

I give to my eldest son Henry Collett (the next few words are eligible) of the land already bestowed upon him pps

 

I give unto each of the children x pound a piece

 

I give and bequeath and devise unto my son Walter Collett and to his heirs all the land which I purchased off William Hilton gent

 

I give unto my said son Walter the bedstead bed and furniture in the _____ and my tools of husbandry and my horses plough harrows and implements of husbandry provided that my wife shall have the use and occupation of the lands and other things devised and given to my said Walter during her natural life

 

I give unto my daughter Elizabeth all of the rents and profits of my lands in Westcott pps a year for five years next ensuing the hereof if she shall so long live and after the end of said five years or other determination of her estate

 

I give and devise to my daughter Joyce the life annuity of pps per annum out of my said lands in Westcott for five years if she shall so long live and after the death or other determination of the estates of the said Elizabeth and Joyce

 

I give and devise unto my daughter Sarah the life annuity of pps a year out of my said lands in Westcott for other five years if she shall so long live and after the deaths or other determinations of the estates of the said Elizabeth Joyce and Sarah

 

I give and devise unto my daughter Joan the life annuity of pps per annum out of my said lands in Westcott for other five years if she shall so long live and after the deaths or determinations of the estates of my said four daughters

I give and devise unto my youngest daughter Jane the life annuity or rent charge of pps per annum out of the profits of my said lands in Westcott during the term of other five years if she shall so long live and if it shall provide the said annuity of pps per annum bequeathed to my said daughters as aforesaid to be beheld unpaid after the end of any one year by the period of eight days that then and so often ___ of the said annuities shall be unpaid as aforesaid it shall be lawful

I do give and devise unto my son Walter all my messuage and lands for the term of twelve years after the decease of my wife

 

The rest of all my goods and chattels my debts and my funeral paid and discharged I give and bequeath unto Joan my wife whom I do make my full and whole executive and I do request my brother William Collett and my cousin Richard Wager to be overseers of this my last Will and Testament and the same duly performed
